Resettlement and rehabilitation is a process which often is long and slow and involves many fresh starts. It can include the following stages:
Housing: help with establishing housing rights - referrals to local authorities - permanent and temporary accommodation - special needs housing - help in setting up home - links with specialist services - ongoing support;
Open learning centre: help with basic literacy and numeracy - introduction to word processing - links with adult education colleges;
Mental health care: our mental health workers, together with the joint homeless team, provide specialised care with counselling referrals to treatment centres and ongoing support;
Alcohol and drug abuse: our specialist workers offer counselling, referrals to treatment centres, ongoing support, and outreach work to people suffering from the effects of substance abuse;
Older homeless people: we have set up a special service, in partnership with Friends of the Elderly, to provide time and space for older homeless clients to reminisce. We organise recreational activities and visits and help them find suitable accommodation and medical assessment services;
Passage
House: our hostel is
open every day of the year. It provides accommodation
for up to 48 people who would otherwise be sleeping
rough. It works in close liaison with the Street
Link team and the day centre;
Montfort House: provides 16 self-contained flats with staff support on site for people preparing to move on to independent accommodation. Almost all the residents move here from Passage House.
Last year we
spent almost £3.6 million of which only
7.4% was for management and fund raising. The
rest was direct expenditure. This does not include
food and other donations in kind. Will you help
us? Please call 0845
