How you can help The Passage

There are so many ways to join in our work.

Do you have time to give us?

Do you work for a company?

Do you work for a charitable trust or grant-giving body?

Do you know anyone who does?

Are you at University?

Are you at school?

Have you got a fundraising idea?

Some, like
making a donation, you can do it right now!

Send a link from this site now to someone in your e-mail address book. Tell them why you think they should know about us. Help us spread the word. If, for whatever reason, we are not the charity for you, please get in touch with one that is. If you're not in Central London there is surely a similar organisation near you. They would love to hear from you; there is so much to do.
Call us on 020 7592 1850 or e-mail help@passage.org.uk.

If you have time to give us,
there is so much to do, from befriending clients to dishing out breakfasts to giving us professional pro bono advice. We are grateful for any help that we are offered, from an hour a week to several days a week. Whatever you do for us we can guarantee it will be deeply satisfying. See our volunteering page.

If you work for a company,
recommend us to your charity committee, your public affairs department, your Business in the Community representative; anyone who might be interested. Ask your webmaster to put us on your intranet for a few days. See "How companies help The Passage" for the many other ways in which businesses can help us, and the names of those who already do.

If you work for a charitable trust or grant-giving body
or know anyone who does, let them know about us. Come and visit us. Let martin@passage.org.uk know if we meet the criteria and who to contact. Click here for a list of charitable trusts which already help us.

If you are at University
let your union or common room charity committee know about us. Hold a sponsored event. Put us on the rag week list of charities. Ask les@passage.org.uk for collecting boxes and leaflets. Come and teach clients how to use a computer. Do a sponsored walk (Andrew Terrill did 7,000 miles for us from the south of Italy to the Arctic Circle but we'll settle for less).

If you are at school
tell your relatives and friends about us. Tell your charity committee. If you are a sixth-form student in central London join other young people rattling boxes and handing out leaflets on our monthly collections at Victoria and Charing Cross Stations. Ask les@passage.org.uk for more information.

Have you got a fundraising idea?

Throw a party, run the marathon, undertake a sponsored swim, put on a play. Contact us with your ideas.

Make a donation

About 50% of our annual expenditure of £3.5 million comes from statutory grants and rents. This leaves us to raise £1.75 million from donations and grants from individuals, church organisations, charitable trusts and businesses and through the generosity of those who remember us in their wills.

£15 pays for our trained staff to give a homeless person much needed advice.
£40 provides heating and hot water in the day centre for one day.
£100 enables our Open Learning Centre to provide training for one person for one week.
£250 furnishes a flat for a client being resettled.
£1,000 subsidises the cost of meals provided in the day centre for one week.
£2,000 pays the cost of employing a qualified drug and alcohol worker for one month.

We also need donations in kind. Clothes in good condition and towels are always needed.

Post a donation form or phone in a credit card donation to Andrew Hollingsworth or Martin Allen on 0845 880 0689.

In 2005 The Passage celebrated the 25th anniversary of its foundation by Cardinal Basil Hume and the Daughters of Charity of St Vincent de Paul.

The 2007 Night Under the Stars concert was on 7 November. Last years concert raised another £100,000 for the Passage.
