Passage House employs 23 full-time staff and 15 temporary staff. The project is open 24 hours a day and has a dedicated night shift of five people. There are also two specialist workers; an education worker and a resettlement worker. Management support is provided by a manager, a deputy and three team leaders, and they are on call 24 hours a day.
This year the foyer project was started. The aim is to replicate the success of traditional foyers for under 25-year olds, but for the benefit of older clients. The foyer will focus on clients’ ability actively to address issues of employment, identity, benefits and life skills that we often take for granted.
Building work is taking place to convert office space into a kitchen and dining area, so as to increase independence further. This project is linked to a major registered social landlord, and it is envisaged that clients will be supported into permanent accommodation and out of the cycle of homelessness.
